Dear Mother and Daddy,
A very wonderful thing happened yesterday. I got my best grade that I've gotten in college and probably the best that I'm ever going to get. It was in English and that was the very class I dreaded most. Perhaps I can do something in there after all. It was on a [precise?] on how to write a good exposition, and it was extremely boring - it was all right just to read, but to spend any time on it, that was awful; consequently, I left it until the last minute to do and just dashed it off and handed it in without even proof reading it. an example. The professor graded the papers by giving each one a position according to their rank of merit - the best paper getting a 1, the second best getting a 2, and so on. When I got my paper back with the 1 on it you could have knocked me over with a feather.

I have been kept awfully busy this week because I am now the representative of the Y.M.C.A. from my corridor and I have to get everyone to join it - that isn't so much trouble, it's just getting the money from them. the tune of the Old Gray Mare and then a poem with a verse about each type of man. I also had to see about getting props for it and I had to get george to get me a Stanford jacket. I also have to see about getting a truth and consequence program for the sponsors with terrible consequences for them. I will certainly be glad when it is over, but it is fun doing it.
My room has become a legend since I've gotten my things in it, everyone has heard about it and has come to see it. I really think that it is one of the cutest rooms too.
I finally found out about the electric cycle, and I am now positive that it is a 60 cycle.
Love to all, Mary
