Dear Mother and Daddy,

There are only two more weeks of school and finals, etc. are certainly closing in. I had no idea that the end was so close. I'm afraid that I was doing better work at the beginning of the quarter than I am now. I got a Spanish test back with a B on it, but if I get a good grade on my final I'm still safe. My physical science is rather inconsistent so I will probably average up to a C in that course. I got an A one time and a D another. Physics is just over my head, I don't see why they make us take such subjects, it will never do me any earthly good what so ever. Western Civ. is not to awfully good either. I'm afraid I didn't do so well on the last test, but we are having another one tomorrow and I'm studying quite hard for it, so maybe I will do all right in that. You can't very well tell about English, but I might be able to get a B since most of my comp. grades have been in the B's. I have certainly noticed a change in the school work, it was much harder this quarter

than last. I guess they loosen up a little in the summer time when there arn't as many students; so if I don't get as good grades this time as last, it won't be because I didn't work as hard, but because the work was harder. I think though that if I study consciensusly these next two weeks I can keep about the same average.

There really hasn't been an awful lot doing here, because finals are coming I guess. They did have a big bond drive though this week and they have had auctions all the time to raise money. I told you they auctioned off a date with George at one of the girls' halls and he sold for $305, so I guess he is too expensive for me. Today they had a lot of jeeps here with soldiers to take people riding who bought war bonds. The girls' sorority houses have also been giving things for the Freshmen girls. It's sort of like rushing I guess but I don't see the use since they can't pledge anyone. I went to a Theata coffee on Tuesday and the Kappas had something, but I couldn't go. The dinner bell just rang so -

Love to all, Mary -
