Found no trouble or sign of trouble with magtape hardware.
Found that it is advisable to put at least JFCL's or EQIU between FOO: 0 CONSO 224, 1 JRST .-1
NB → JFCL JFCL
JRST @ FOO → CONO 220, 17000 17400
FOO is called with JSR to wait for mag type
This seems to be a feature due to the 800Dpi clock having a period of 27μs. This is "CK1" used to step the 4-flop.
Anyway it's a trap for simple diagnostics, but no other programs, we think.
Tried writing file with a few records with TECO in the system, and then skipping to end of file with TECO. No trouble found.

This last test seems, as well as I can see, to duplicate RAJ REDDY's program that was giving all the trouble.

Some idiot (J. RANDOM BENEDICT, NAMELY) disconnected power to the DEC part of the clock & then didn't re-connect it. The same was done to the D to A. I reconnected the clock but not the D to A.

I believe I have discovered the cause of the skip to infinity bug. It is software. It seems the system sometimes transfers a junk comand to the control. See me for details.

LPT stops for no obvious reason sometimes with LOW PAPER ALERT on. I kicked it a couple of times & it's fine now.

Found mag tape "skip to infinity" bug. Extra wire from 3825V ([?] cm sef) to 3824V in 516 input to CONO 220. Set. Removed wire. Works now. Effect was to strobe current contents of IO buss into command hold buffer when skip to EOF went away. (i.e. it saw an EOF). SRR

Spacewar buttons 29 and 31 intermittently stay on (trouble seems electrical rather than mechanical). Beware. W Wilmer
