The reason that the TV Camera's pan motor would not turn off was that motor relay for "Pan Right" was stuck closed. Although the relays that are used for the pan and tilt motors probably have adequate contact rating for the continuous motor current (0.25 Amp), they are really too small to handle the several-amp turn-on surge — especially when this surge occurs often, as when the motors are hunting (in a servo loop). The pan motors work all right now because the wires on the pan-right relay have been moved over to its unused contacts. If a similar failure occurs again, a new relay control box should be built using (six) 5 or 10 amp relays.
