city, as you could judge by my letters and have had an unexpectedly pleasant xmas in the way of presents although I have sent as I shall wait until I return home and then bring you something. In the present time I got on xmas morning on the table a Regt ring of silver from all and in the evening on the dinner table a silver hat band - third that I now have. When I came home I found a book on American Arch-ture from Mrs. Woodward], a letter and scent bag from Mrs. Ogilvie, and before going to the city - two neckties from Geraldine and to-day a silver inkeraser from Charlotte Campbell from Georgia with an invite to visit Nashotale next summer, to say nothing of the draft from you, mother and Aunt

Nania which was very useful indeed as my bank account just balanced at the zero mark when I came home with two-dollars and fifty three cents in pocket. Rec'd a nice note from Mrs Kip today in answer to mine thanking her again for my pleasant visit. Will go up again I think on Feb. 9th to another Symphony Concert and spend Sunday as they have asked me to do so. Met Taylor again at the California Tennis Club who was one of California's representatives at World's Fair Tournament. They have fine grounds and I have a card without

date on it giving me the club priviledges. Also had card to Olympic Athletic Club, who have a handsome [five?] story building, which has been finished but about two years. Didn't go to MidWinter Fair [once?], as it is not nearly complete yet. I went out to dinner with Mary on New Years while the rest of the family went to opening ceremonies, which they pronounced extremely "on the cheese." It has been miserable weather here for the past two weeks and now we have wind which Chicago would be proud of, but the last two days have been fine though cold. I caught a hard cold while in the city but am all well now. Mrs. Kip wouldn't let me come home until it was better. Yesterday played tennis all P.M.
