Hi Folks, By far the most special feature in Freiburg is the "Muinster"-cathedral. The spire is particularly beautiful, and stands out against the skyline no matter where you are. The city itself was crowded with people while we were there, all gathered to celebrate Fasching - the carnival weekend preceding Lent. The streets were lined with people in gay costumes and every restaurant cafe, etc. was filled to the gills with gay celebrants. Love, George

Hi folks, Staying here at our first youth hostel, a beautiful large home right on the bank of the Regnitz River, about a 1/4 mile from town. Tomorrow A.M. to Erlangen and Nürnberg. Got here about 2 pm and did quite a lot of looking before 7pm. This card is a detail from one of the 2 large figures all life-size Church was begun in 1004! All out of wood (the picture) and painted black. Very beautiful detail ingraving. The central hall is huge and there are several such details of this size located here and there in corners and crannies. a letter soon to describe this so far very fascinating weekend. Love George
