Junior Day down here was in everyway a success. The farce very clever & full of hits. A bit of college too. Was given very well. Mr. Brown taking the part of [Jostah?] Rusty. A hayseed to perfection. He was first billing.

We had an ex in Chemistry last Monday. I passed. I'm glad to say. Now if I pass the next I'll be exempt from the final. One of the Ex's I've got to Cram for is our

Algebra. He hasn't given us one ex - since we began and now he's going to give us a final on All we've been over this year since last September. Just think of it.

I paid twenty three cents to have two shirts done up - about twelve cents a piece.

I think I did a pretty good piece of pen & inkt his morning. How I've been praised unmercifully on my artistic ability - but

they were Prof Griffin, ProfWoodruff, Prof. [Allardice?] & Prof- Carmen. beside some girls & at the reception, she put herself out to introduce me to girls she knew.

We played a game. I am going to explain it for you could have it for a tea. You take a piece of note paper And tie a penny on one corner. On one side are questions. Answers found first on the wrong side & then a set of questions, on the face-side the answers put to corresponding numbers.

Questions - 1- A messenger (one sent (cent) 2+ A Symbol of victory (Oak wreath) 3 - A mode of punishment [buters?] (on the shield)] -4- A weapon (arrows) 5 - A piece of armor (shield) 6 - Parts of a book - (leaves) 7 - A devoted

in drawing he said his pupils were way in advance of what I had drawn in a little over a month.

He has the reputation of making everyone take the elementry of him. He is the old pickinnish style. I wish Nellie could see his paintings etc. I would give her something to string there her nerves first.

A lot of students won't take because he don't teach well. I wish Nellie could get the position or one - for drawing & painting. Not the scientific but the artistic.

There is a Prof. Symmington here - from Baltimore. A French teacher. And he's a darling.

Are you sure none of my Baltimore relations are

Symmington? I would like to own [him?]. Won't you please send me a clothes bag. I forgot to bring one.

Whom do you you think I saw here in the library today. I am sure you could guess all week.

I saw the face & when it arose to seek the door I rushed after it. She is here as a special. French Major - failed also in English 1 a & b it was Sadie Richards.

I will send you one of the cards I have to make out for Registration & my hours.

Mrs. Slayton says she thinks they ought to have passed me in English.

I will have to pay $10 for my Chemistry. As

Physics is supposed to come in the second years course. My expenses are Room 33.00 Registration fee $10.00 & for Chemicals $15.00, books sofar $4.00. I joined the co-op & get all my books at a reduction of 10 or 15 cents. It costs $2.00 & every one says it is worthwhile.

I will have to have more money about $10 because I haven't paid the laboratory fee - Which I must before Thursday.

I went to a reception at Roble hall Thursday night. It was the new girls.

Quite nice. Alice is very nice to me. When I went to see her last Sunday she brought in the whole tablefull to meet me.

much to Miss Slaytons disgust. Last night Friday I went to a reception to all students at Eucina Gym.

Everyone was labeled with their names. The freshmen's tied with light blue the old students with red;- I met Charlie Field tell Mrs. Sangsbroth - & Mrs. Baker - who introduced her son Shirley. It was through her - wasn't it - that I got here. For as a rule Mrs. Morton don't take boarders Miss Purdy & myself are the only ones and we are very lucky. Mrs. Morton belongs to the Country club. She knows Mrs. Cambell -

Alice was very nice to me here also - & introduces me to several - Mr. Cochran included - he's very nice

they say here - he is a very nice young man - tell Grace so. I was also introduced to a Mr. Long & Stratton. Mrs. Baker is the matron of the boy's fratenaty, the [Zetas?] [illegible?] so nice for them to have her.

I won my light-[Hue?]- last night. I wish Elsie could come here. And room with me. This is an awfully long letter.

Please give my love to Mrs. Cambell & the girls.

I do hope more will come in. Isn't it lovely about my Physics - he wouldn't credit me & then for me to pass so well. I got my guilt. I have eleven credits & my English when I pass it will make 12.
