witchy art teacher - she didn't show for our lecture last week. I was in "my" cafe yesterday (we each have to become a regular at a cafe so they bring you what you want w/out your having to order) and the daughter of the waitress/owner came and started babbling German to me - how stupid did I feel not understanding a 6 yr old girl! How did she know all her adjective endings! She asked if I was married or had a child - maybe this cold weather is aging [ageing] me! Her mom explained I was american and wouldn't understand all she said. I felt dumb. By the end of the quarter I'll be able to talk to her hopefully! Boy - in England going out grocery shopping or to dinner won't even be a challenge! I have to bring me dictionary to the market now. I'll let you know how classes go - the German teachers and the lady who heads the program are great - really funny and nice & austrian. It's such a switch to have small classes, call your teachers (some of them) by their first name and do your homework in a coffee house! Let me know whats up at home & Stanford!
