in the same apartment house with us -- in
fact he is [inversely?] [gualagous?] (I hope thats
right) to ours, only it's a block away. He'es
about y last tie to Standford and even he
seldom has much news about the place. You
may remember Julliard MacDonald of our house.
He suddenly dropped in for breakfast the other
day- all the way from Santa Rosa. He
saved my life some years back with a loan
here and there. It was high satisfaction to
be able to lift him out of a bad rut by
repaying the lump sum when he happened to
need it most. He sees Aileene and Charlie
Parks a good deal and says they're very happy
in the mine country.

I find that attempting to cover more than
eight years of separation is a most unsatisfac-
tory labor - if we could only get to-gether
over a few drinks it would be different. By now
you certainly know I'm making no attempt to
commiserate with you unon your misfortune, Dave.
If you didn't know my sentiments and sympathies
in the matter I'm sure you wouldn't have bothered
to write me. Your letter made me very happy and
very hopeful - that we will have our chat and
our drinks to-gether sometime soon. Write me when the
spirit prompts - As always - Lloyd Nolan
