Stanford, Nov.,26,1924.

Dearest Dad and Mother:-

Another long space of time since the last letter, but guess you wont mind a delay in these busy times,-for they sure are busy here at Stanford.Only four more weeks of school before vacation. Exams are not so far off and there is lots of work to be done.

Weather fine, not rainy as we thought it would become a few weeks ago. Chilly evenings but really hot at midday. Los Angeles broke heat records last week with 96 and 98 degrees. Tomorrow is Thanksgiving, will stay home I guess and eat turkey at our own table.

Last Saturday was Big Game day -and California and Stanford played a 20-20- tie game before the largest crowd of people that ever saw a football game in the whole country-and five players on the team of eleven are our own Kappa Sigs. The crowd last Saturday numbered about 90000 and the game was the most thrilling ever played between California and Stanford. We were leading at half time 6-0. At the end of the third quarter the score was California 13, Stanford 6. And with only ten minutes left to play the score was 20-6 for California. In those last ten minutes such a fight as Stanford put up has been beyond the belief of any who did not see the game. Anyway the score was 20-20 when the battle ended and Stanford for first time in five years wins the Coast Conference Championship. Now the prospects are best for a game with Notre Dame in Pasadena on New Years day.Notre Dame is undisputed champion of east and middle west. A win over them is hardly probably but if such could be Stanford would get a lot of free advertising as champions of the country.

Surprised to learn of the cold snap you had in the east a short while ago. Never been so cold as that for long time I guess.

Sunday Nov. 30

Cold here today - getting ready to rain I guess. Thanksgiving went off time - had turkey dinner here at house then went up to city for evening. Just took a half hour's ride over to hills and back and fingers are so numb can barely write. Sure is pretty over there everything green and view from hills is great. Could see Oakland easily (60 miles away) also San Jose and everything between. Cold towards evening up there ! Studying again only 2 more weeks school then 20 days off ! Wish I were coming home but will make best of the time.

here or will probably go south as everyone almost goes that way. Love and best wishes to Dad, Mother and [Carol?]. Herb sent me the paper telling of his game with Chicago 0-0. We are going to play Notre Dame at Pasadena on New Year's Day - chance to compare scores [with?] California and Wisconsin.

Love [to?] all Yours, [Joe?]
