My dear Nannie -

Somewhere I have a
belated letter begun to you, but in
my efforts to straighten our room
it has been misplaced. Last week
was a busy one; two examinations
(one of which didn't come off) and prep-
arations for the Sigma Alpha
Epsilon party. The Sigma Alpha E
is a fraternity (boy) who have just
finished a beautiful new house in
Palo Alto and a week ago issued
small invitations for a large
affair both afternoon and evening.
I was prepared to decline as usual
but I saw that Rose very much
wanted to go: and finally I consented
to the persuasions of the different girls.
For Rose would not go without me
