There are some people on earth whose society I am quite sure I should prefer to that of just heterogenous and strange angels, for instance, and it gives you sort of a comfortable feeling to think that you may still have a choice as to whether after death you shall choose angels or good old grubby friends. Of course, in time one might prefer the angels all right then we'll associate with them. Poor Ada Farris has been reading such stuff so much and thinking about

it all so much -- and believing it so much -- that she has spectral callers night after night, loud raps on the mir ror, soft glowing lights on the wall, etc. I don't believe she is having 'em, but I tell you knowing her as well as I do I find it mighty hard not to believe her. Enuff!

Eleanor will surely be de lighted to see you. Poor kid! she has been pretty lonesome this Winter, I think. Well so has Sam, I guess. Poor, dear old Sam! I'll try and

cheer him up letting (!) him haul me instead of Eleanor around when I get home next week. He says I'm ex actly like Eleanor, anyhow, so I ought to be a good sub.

I don't know that anything you tell Suzie will do me much good because I've had only two letters from her since she left Bozeman and if she doesn't come home and we don't write more frequently our mental rapport won't be very complete.

I think you're a dear generous soul to devote as much time as you have on me when there must be so many millions of things to do these last few minutes.

I'm expecting daily to hear that Laurence is going "Somewhere in France" with the "Engineers corps" but I am quite resigned now and it's all right.

Everytime I read a word about "Red Cross" or "hospitals" or any of those articles of Elizabeth Frazers or anything I shall think of -- Fauna. [One time a lad I'd met very casually said, "My home is in Milwaukee and

everytime you see "Schlitz"-- think of me." and I'll bet I've thought of him a million times to what purpose? can't remem ber anything but his first name now.]

Oh my goodness! it's hard to write these yere closin' lines. I'm so perilously near being sort of hysterically emo tional in them.

Guess I'll just say that I know you are going to have wider and better experiences than any of us poor sticks who "nothing venture"
