Dear Dr. Tresidder:

Your letter of March to the Stanford alumni in military service has just reached me after going half way around the world and returning.

At the time of entering the Navy in 1942 I was an Assistant Instructor in Surgery (opthalmology) and assistant to Dr. Hans [Borko?]. Except for the last 10 months I have had little or no practice in my specialty.

My plans are still nebulous but they do include one defiinite point. I would like some clinic and operative experience for about 6 months when I return to practice. Frequent conferences with liberal discussions

on all the phases of the problems which case presentations bring out would be helpful.

It seems to me that this could be accomplished with a small group. However if large numbers wish the same type of brushing up none should be denied and the program should be modified accordingly. It is the application of our unused basic training that will [put?] us on our feet.
