Office of the President Stanford University, California

26 April, 1945

Dear Sir:

In reply to your [mimeographed?] letter of March, 1945, which requested answers to your questions, I shall endeavor to give my (desired) post-war position with Stanford.

1. I do wish to undertake university work after the war is over.

2. I plan to continue at Stanford; continue my major in business administration (a quarter left to receive my degree); and (if time permits) take the post-graduate course in the Stanford Business School.

3. When I return, I shall want to take practical courses in my chosen field - and do away with the courses the university compelled me to take as an undergrauate. I shall want to carry the maximum number of units possible under the [conveying?] circumstances.

small amount of art work for the "Daily" and "Chaparal" as I did before.

One problem that has presented itself is the matter of Stanford's accepting credits for one's work (military training programs) at other universities, and at [midshipman's?] school as well. I went to the University of California, which is certainly high in the nations scholastic standing, for 9 months - and yet I am led to believe that all my "A" and "B" marks will be accepted by Stanford as "C"s . I would appreciate it if someone would send me the details of this system, which seems on the surface quite unjust (as we were compelled to attend these universities). Also, I should like to know the grade points given for [midshipman?] school training.

Thanking you for your interest, I remain

Sincerely yours, C. (Carlos) A. Brown, [Sus.?] USNR
