Dear Sir,

With regard to your letter of March 16: I do intend to return to Stanford after the war. When I left there I was in the last quarter of my sophomore year. While in the army I went through some nine months in the A.S.T.P. I am interested in the standing you will be able to give for credits I received there. I have also taken a few courses from the U.S.A.F.L. Will you give any credits toward a degree for these courses and, if so, what courses would you suggest? I was an Accounting-Business major when I was called into the service, and will probably continue towards an accounting degree and possibly another degree in engineering of some sort as my A.S.T.P. training was all engineering. As far as I am concerned, any changes from the pre-war set up

would be undesirable.

As far as extra-curricular activities and living conditions are concerned, I would like to know what, if anything, you intend to do about the fraternities. The closing of the sororities has made most of us wonder whether you were going to allow fraternities after the war, and, if not, what aid you would give them to get them back on their feet. Speaking for myself I can say I am still heartily in favour of fraternities. I consider them an almost inseperable part of my life at Stanford.

I suppose a great many returning veterans will want accelerated programs. I was in that kind of a program under the A.S.T.P. training, and, in my opinion, acceleration is undesirable and unsatisfactory. You just don't learn the subjects well enough.

I can give you some information

I was a rifleman in a line Co. of the 104th division with the 1st army in Germany until sometime last Nov. when I was injured near Aachen. I am still in the hospital recovering. While in Germany I earned a bronze star for heroic achievement in action.

Thank you for your very kind letter It is nice to know that so much
