Dear Sir,

I would like to answer
with the information you
requested in your letter
to Stanford Alumni in
the military service.

A year in the navy has
not in the least detracted
from my desire to return to
Stanford as soon as possible
after receiving a discharge - when?
what I will be studying I
don't know - mechanical engineering
was my course, perhaps it will
be law when I return.

As for housing accomodations
I hope to live in the Beta house,
assuming fraternities will maintain
their pre-war status.

I can think of no changes
I should like to see at Stanford,
maybe that's the result of a
year in the navy. But perhaps my
reflections are common to all the
men who leave school in the middle
of the stream. That is, the way you
feel when you discover how little
of individual courses you retain,
how much of the thing on which you place
no emphasis at all you retain. It
might be well to give students a little
more preview on post graduate reactions
