and moniter[?] of the Lord. Think how
many Thom and (who is called by the
name of Oxley) [know not this day - this text crossed out]
who never [are allow - text crossed out] have the great
priviliges [privileges] that we have. Consider
again the privilege you enjoy
not only on your own account but
on account of the rising generation
the seed tho [though] feebly sown with the
blessing of our Maker may grow
up & bring forth fruit an hundred
fold. Remember that God will
hear the prayers of those who
come to him with a contrite humble
spirit more over sought his fate[?]
in vain. None has asked 7 sought his blessing
(according to his desire) [all text in bracket crossed out] but hath
reserved it. Ash & rye[?] shall rain.

brutes[?] wd [would] appear to rise eat drink
& lie down again about life we consider [crossed out]
Go my dear friend let in consider [appears to be written after original text]
for one moment [all crossed out] that we have a
[God] to serve an immortal & never dying
soul to prepare for an endless eternity
and that Gd[God] has in infinite love
and mercy allotted a seventh part of our
time for the more immediate pure
love[?] of serving him with all humility
and Godly sincerity . I say if we do
but consider his love to forward[?]
methinks we should give the move
assent[?] head[?] to attend to his laws &
commandments & be exceedingly thank
ful that he has cast your lot in
a place where we may arise early
make known your prayers & suppients[?]
Atend [attend?] his ordinances, hear his word
and assent in training up the little
ones in the fear meantime [?] and
[page 3 - written on top]
be brought to the knowledge of the love of Cst [Christ] he will
naturally be constrained to dispense those blessings
around him as far as opportunity permits thus he
will be a blessing wherever he goes light will suround [surround]
his paths and all that he will do will prosper.
Surely the field is large troubles will assail
you tis true Satan will beset on every hand, but
remember he trembles when the sinner is upon
his knees. If God be for us who can be against
us. If the Lord be on our side of whom shall
we be afraid. Arise my Dear young friends.
I beseech you by the ties of Love & of friendship.
Arise search and try your [crossed out] your own selves wether [whether] ye be in the
faith whether ye believe the Scriptures whether
ye act according to the commands therein
or not. Go not forward in your own strength
but in the strength of the Lord. He has promised
that your strength shall be according to your day
Love mercy do justly & walk humbly with your
God. Pray for me & believe me your most
affectionate Brother & friend - TH [Thomas Hassall?]
