I went with Papa to Bural and to
Castlereigh on Mr Clarke's horse, he his
a very nice horse but looks rather thin.
I suppose you know that the ninety
sixth are in Parramatta it is a very
nice regiment and one of the band teaches
me the Flute, I think he plays a great deal
better than than (sic) the one I had before the
June holidays; all the band have brass
Epaulets, and white gloves. (underlined)

We will not have any holidays at
Michelmas but I think that some of the
boys will go home for about a week.
We have got another new boy at the school
named Clarke and he comes from
Sydney. I think Mr Meyers will leave at
Christmas and take a farm near Uncle
Charlie's. I have got no more news to tell
you except that we are going to have a
holiday this week.
