My Dear James
Many Thanks for your kind [last?] letter
Not much had[ or here?] George been wishing [of working?] just about
the time I received it. I should not have
allowed so long a time to have elapsed
without answering it. When George first
came[?] down he [indecipherable] so. Since his intention
of taking a situation he said Papa particu
arly wished him to take charge of his
affairs but from Papa's last letter I do not
he would object to his remaining
here. At present we know of no opening
for him so that I feel very [?] glad [?] whether
to urge him to return directly or wait
a while. He has some thoughts of returning
by the [indecipherable] but it will depend upon
what our [indecipherable] from Denbigh say

has altered. He is not clever enough for them or
active enough. Reads [?] other peoples business and
sometimes hankers his hikes. I do not see much
alteration in him and I am very sorry that
he should get into the peoples bad books he
will get in very well James sure when neither
comes to help him the sisters[?] use rather [?] to
[indecipherable] for him. I suppose the papers will
tell you the election proceedings of Port Phillip
you will say we are fine politicians down [?]
here. I do not know what Mr Willis and Mr
Haines are about but Mr William Mr Arthur
is going to be nominated and I intend to
give him my vote. I have not had much
