My dear James
You express a wish to hear from me, I
know not how to begin a letter, for the morning I received
yours which gave me much pleasure that night I was in
deep distress[?] with Mrs Beaver who came to me saying
she thought Mr Beaver much worse the instant I saw him
I knew he was dying I ran for the Doctor but he had
breathed his last dear good man between twelve and one
I then with Dr Nathan laid him [indecipherable] straight [indecipherable]
without a stirrup[?] and I trust he is at rest. Enough on that
subject, and I trust I felt as I ought saying "Be still & know
that I am God" Two days the death of Mrs Broughton and two
days after the death of a young man the head of the Choir
in St James Oh it was an awful time but I have been brought
through this bother[?] and I doubt not I shall to the end find
a way to escape though it is hard for human nature to
know I am happy to say I have just got a card from the
Bishop and Mrs Broughton to return thanks for my[?] inquiries
and from the Arch Deacon [?] who was at church on
Sunday last to administer the Sacrament at St Philips
