However as I expect to see you about the end of this
month (as I am going to drive Mr W Marulan
on his way to Sydney, tho' [though] he is not yet quite
decided whether he will go this month or not)
I will let you know in the meantime, & if it
would not incommode you to keep the horse, I would be
obliged. It all depends whether I could get rid
of my chestnut or not. If not, I cannot have
Charlie. If I can, even at a loss, I should be
very glad to get him. I should like to get 8 for
"Bobby", but would take £7, if you should hear of
anyone who wants a horse in the meantime, perhaps
you cd. mention it to them. You have seen the horse,
and can tell pretty well, what is good & bad
qualities are. I shd. like to have Charlie,
for one reason, he is so very quick, & wd.
carry a lady. My grey horse has a beautiful
canter, but he is rather timid. I think
somebody has beaten him for it. He is
a very nice horse, & Fred King to whom he
originally belonged, but of whom I did not buy
him, says he wishes he had him back.
My plan is to exchange duties with Mr
Smith the last Sunday in the month, (at
Bundendore which is on the road) and get
back by the following Sunday ^1st J.^ to Gundaroo.
Do you think this is a good arrangt.? [arrangement]
Write soon, & tell me what you think
of it. I am sorry to hear about

the Marulan Church, but it is very fortunate that nobody
was hurt. Much obliged to Mrs Hassall for her
kind message. The 1st of March may probably see
me at your place, but in single blessedness - My
father is still very anxious about His Holiness.
My mother is getting more "aisy" (underlined) - I am so sorry
that I did not hear before about Charlie.
I did not like to press (underlined) you, & from your silence
I concluded that you had decd. [decided] not to part with him
I am very glad to hear that you have left off
drinking so much [indecipherable] (thanks to Dr Cropper I presume)
I find myself much [indecipherable] since I saw you for
that reason. We had only a little rain last
Sat. (quite insufft.)[insufficient] & the country is looking
very bad - Remember me to Burton & His holiness.
and last not least to your good father. Mrs [Gibs?]
is at Mr Powell's (Bungendore) But I have not yet seen
her. B is not in my district, -- My intended
has not been very well for some days past,
suffering from giddiness &c. but I do not think
it is of much consequence. Hoping soon
to hear from you, and with best regards
to your better moiety, I remain, Dear James,
Yours very truly,
G. E. Gregory.

Revd. [Reverend] J. [James] Hassall
P.S. I saw Mrs Murphy
in Gundaroo. She & et al en-
quired after you. Mr. M is giving
such a good example of sending
his boys to the Gundaroo school
