The Black filley is
quite well, pretty quiet
fat & good looking.
Harriet has to ride her
every day. The grey
mare carried me down
first rate, I had to
bring her down to
Parramatta. Poor old
Smith has been nearly
dead, the Doctor says
he thinks that he will
go raving mad. Uncle
Geo [George] Baker has been thrown
out of the gig & nearly
killed

I went to Mr Oxleys
that night, he was quite
well, very busy [washing?]
he has the best bed
ever I slept on. There
is plenty of grass down
here. All unite with
me in love to yourself
& Fanny. Ian says
please to give his
best love to His - Le (underlined)
and says he will see
her at Christmas if
all is well.

Give my best love to the
pretty girl & accept the
same from
Your affect. [affectionate] cousin
William Shelley
