Very Dear Father
Knowing well that a tender Parents advice
is much wanting in the small and trifling
{concerns} affairs of this life why is it not {in the not} much
more necessary in the higher concerns
{of this life} But the reason a son cannot {open} speak
his mind openly to his father has of late
much perplexed and troubled me the
reason I cannot as yet find out although
sincerely you are the father of as fond
a son can be & that in Ages / as it were
to come I may be able to shine my love
{and gratitude} to that God who gave
me such a father and who has thus
far preserved me through life by
making a Worthy member of the Church
of Christ in living according to
his holy Law and Ordinances letting

My Very Dear and affectionate Brother
I write a few lines hoping they
will arrive in safety though poor and im-
perfect they are the sentiments of my heart.
I understand yous are to sail on sunday
without fail - the day after will be
the first monday in the month - O
my Dear Brother forget not to pray for us when
when you think we (the Teachers of
of the sunday school) shall be met
to consult and pray for the Dear Children
we have undertaken to instruct on the
sabath, pray for us constantly that we
may be inabled to to on with our
arduous but pleasing task.
I am much grieved about your
leaving us but more than I should be
on account of two or three words that
you said last Wednesday night that
when you looked at me you said you
thought I wished you to [indecipherable] gone
