P.S. I have delayed closing this as long as I can in order to give you the latest news from Otaheiti. No Dispatches have yet arrived from the King, but there is a report from (crossed out word) that Island that war has actually recommenced there, - that the late victorious Oropa are giving way, and likely to be overcome: - that the King and the body of BureAtua, or professors of our holy Religion that are with him, remain neuter, and that the lately vanquished forces only have attacked them. However their defeat will in all probability prove the means or restoring the pecable (underlined) Pomare to the compleat sovereignty of that Fertile & justly celebrated Island Otaheiti, and put a period to wars & commotions ther: and, what is best of all, open a more effectual door for the Spread of the gospel, and subserve the establishment of the Kingdom here which consists in Righteousness, (underlined) Peace, (underlined) & joy in (two words underlined) the Holy Ghost.
