To be a mouth for God is unquestionably an important office - May we Dear Sir act according to the Holy Scriptures may we act so as to pleas our God then we may respect that our Lord will will call for us to confer on us his Glorious reward which he hath prepared for them that love him
May we Dear Sir with the pious few who delight to speak of Jesus Name and lead little Children to Christ the Redeemer can long be gathered into Christs Barm where we shall drink of the Water of the fountain of Life freely and sing that New Song - Thou art worthy O Lord to receive Glory and Honour for ever and ever Amen - But on whose account shall we be received into that rest - I doubt not but it will be on Christs account - Jesus hath died and therefore we shall be saved - by the drinking of Water and by the renewing and quickening influences of the Holy Spirit - The Lord loveth his people with an everlasting Love with a special Love yea with an incomprehensible Love - God so loveth the World that he gave his only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life - Pleasing, yea most animating declaration who but the most obstinate would neglect to give Jesus his Heart and say here am I do with me whatsoever seemeth good in the righteous night- but Alass, we see that the word of God is disregarded by the greater part of Mankind Men live as though there be no Heaven no Hell no rewards to be received nor punishments to be inflicted - A Day is coming in which God will judge the World in righteousness by that one Man whome he hath ordained - Pleasing period my Friend to the Righteous but most Awful to Sinners The wicked shall be turned into Hell with all the nations that forgot God. Seeing therefore so Awful a Day is approaching the Apostles exhortation is really necessary "see that ye be found of him in fear looking forward and hastening unto the coming of our Lord
Having on the righteousness which is of Faith that righteousness which is of God by Faith which is unto all and upon all them who believe - Being thus Clothed ye shall be able to stand before the Judge with confidence for none shall make you ashamed & if ye have Christs garment cast about you God will pronounce you fair - Thou art all Fair my Love thou all fair thou hast Doves eyes - But suffer yet further
You have particular need to look unto Jesus for strength- O be determined with the Psalmist to go in the strength of the Lord and to make mention of his righteousness and his [indecipherable]
It is your intention to devote your time and talents in the work and service of Jehovah - Let your prayers be according to the language of the Psalmist - Teach me O lord and I shall know thy truth so shalt thou receive those qualifications which are indispensably necessary for a Preacher of the Gospel to have - So I conclude wishing you every needful temporal and Spiritual blessing which is the prayer of James Shepherd
