I also wished secondly, to advert to
the 1 March (Anns birth day) you will remem
ber our conversation in the evening - Afterward I was talking
with Ann about the Sermon and to my great
surprise she told me she had long wished to
partake of that Holy ordinance administered that day & more especially
on that time it being her birth day - The subject
had ingrosed her attention particularly throughout the past week
I then told her our conversation. She wished to
talk with you but would not open her mouth or to some Christian friend but known
of none. - She has a particular desire to draw
near on sunday next but cannot mention her
wish to you - Like myself before her Father
her lips seem seal'd - "O why is it that on
the important subjects that tend to our
final happiness or misery of our souls are
silent - Why are we afraid to ask our
dear Fathers & Mothers & our dear Ministers
the way to heaven the way to partake of the sacred
ordinances - O may the Veil be taken
from off our eyes and by faith may we behold
the Saviour ever near - I wished much to bid
you all farewell but I felt much. I cannot
say that I shed tears of sorrow I think
They were only tears of sympathy & Joy

I hope & trust I shall be enabled
to press forward even unto the end - I am
rejoiced to see Charles he is just come in
on the road I remembered I had not seen
him this morng I said to Broth. Saml
that I should wish to see him in
Sydney before I sailed - Forget me not
especially at a throne of grace

yours Most Affectionately
Thomas Hassall

Excuse the hastiness of the letter with also
its blunders -
