Sir/
The seal of this letter, perhaps has,
apprised you, of that mournful inteligence is
contained herein - I feel sorry that I am thus
to be the bearer thereof but it was your dear
Fathers desire - Remember Death is the common
lot of all and if we are inhabitants of this earth
we must at one time or other experience the
afflicions that necessarily attend us in this
vale of tears The Lord hath given & the Lord hath taken away - Not being formally acquainted
I scarcely know how to write therefore must
enter upon the painful subject - Your Dear
Father is no more he came on board as a pas
senger
He came on board in weak state of health and before we reach
