Dear Brother

Your Letter dated Oct 30th 1801 I have
received on the arrival of the Norfolk Jany 19th 1802
and was glad to hear that tou and family were
in health. Since the arrival of the Norfolk here
great and wonderful events, in the wire disren-
vations of providence, took place in this island
a detail of there at present I cannot give, nor
is it likely to be necessary, as you may be other-
wise fully informed.

In respect to myself as an individual
I confess that during some of the past months
my mind hath been variously exercised.

Sometimes on viewing, and reflecting on
the dark prospect before us, I was ready to
faint, and think our usefulness at an end;
the door that seemed once open, almost if
not entirely shut up again. In addition
to this, to observe the deep rootes superstition
at there poor and deluded heathen, of which
we have had remarkable an frequent instances
