Your very acceptable
letter per favour Mr Shelley came to hand
but is misslaid - and not to be found -
on which account I cannot answer it as
I could wish - but have to say, that I
am exceeding Happy of your Stay at
Oteheite & it Gladens my heart to hear
of the smallest hope of Usefulness in
the Vineyard of the Lord -

I hope by this date you are come 
to a determination to spend & be spent
in the Great work before you - of all
employment, it is the most Honour-
able - but you have to do the work
of an Evangelist and therefore
look up to God for strength, praises &
temper such a station requires - 
as you are in the field of action
look out for trials - you have Opponants
on all quarters - and after the
greatest trouble - you have yet ex-
perienced - expect a greater always
to Sanctify the last - & I think you will
not be deceived - live near to the Lord
