[Letter]

Very Dear Brother,

We have received yours dated
May 6th 1807 and an opportunity now presents itself of our
writing to you; but we are sorry that the time allotted
us for writing is so short that we are able to write but
a few lines.

During the year which is past we
had but few additions from among the natives.  And
we have been much tried by the corruptions which
remain in many of those who have embraced the Gospel.
We need much grace to support us under these dis-
couragement. -  It is our mercy that God does not
entirely withold from us the influences of his Holy
Spirit  - We have had several  Europeans, and Por-
tuguese added to  our Church, during the past year, the
greater part of whom give us a great deal of pleasure.
Altho we have met with many discouragements from
without and from within, yet we trust God is
strengthening our Stakes, and lengthening our cords -  We
enjoy peace and  tranquility among ourselves; and
God seems to be opening doors for us to enter
