Lampeter 29 May 1818 Began the

seventy inform us this day ploughing the mighty seeds from home & only three or four I am just beginning that fourteen or fifteen years back but with a better hope of attaining some degree of knowledge prayer of last year and add these to diligence & perseverance THis morning I arose early and walked int to the ? yard there to my surprise I found the monument of one of my ? and another of nearly my own age. The Old Church on the aged Yew Tree - the monumental stoes of old & young with a a distant view of the plains & surrounding hills made me to meditate upon the goodness greatness & power of that being who formed & Preserved all things. The admonit ions in 1 Peter 5C which I read under the Yew tree were particularly applicable. May I be enabled to become a bright example to the Philistines ? something myself and the elders ? to being ? vigilant & stedfast in the faith and on every ? work - blessing ? clinging to the sovereigns promises I will before that ? days and shall
