[MS 843]

June 20th 1821
Dear Brother Hassall
I embrace this
opportunity of writing to you these few lines
to acquaint you of the present state of
Lampeter and its dark inhabitants in general.
In the first place (?) I shall [indecipherable] to give
you a short account of the School in its pre-
sent state: after a long and unpleasant [indecipherable]
of schooling we have had Holy days: you may
think it very strange that I should call it
long and unpleasant, but when you will be
acquainted with its progress, I have no
doubt but that you will think it so likewise.
Our Revd[Reverend] Master almost every Wednesday
and Saturday goes to Miss [indecipherable] [Tasmyn?] [indecipherable]
Lwyd: and when he goes of a Wednesday
he generally stays two days; and when
he goes of a Saturday he sometimes neglects
his Church: a most unpardonable
neglect In my opinion a [indecipherable] unworthy
of the name of a Clergyman. I hope you
will keep this to yourself.

(MS 843 continued)
I shall never forget the happy meeting
we had Sunday Evening [indecipherable] when all
the first Class of Girls and some of the
teachers were present. Mr E Williams read
the first Chapter of Philippians and a Hymn
was sung & Mr E. Evans prayed in Welsh;
after that another Hymn was given out &
I engaged in prayer in Welsh after that a Hymn
was given out and sung & Mr E. Williams
closed by a prayer in English where I hope
and believe such hearts were engaged in the work
with joy. I hope that we shall have Grace
to enable us to go on in the good work to the
end of our days when we shall be amply
rewarded to all eternity, for they that suc-
ceed to the end shall be saved.
Although the vast Ocean will separate us
yet may we never be separated in Hart [heart] & Mind (underlined)
that you may be blessed with every assistance
and receive the fervent hope of your ever
Wellwisher both Spiritual & temporal
Willm Williams
