arduous and sacred
duties of the Ministry
and my sincere but poor
and imperfect prayers
shall be offered for you
that God may pour upon
you an abundance of His
Holy Spirit, and enable
you to preach Christ
faithfully, and simply
to poor perishing sinners.
I often wish our Ministers
would confine themselves
to preaching Christ alone.
I do not think it does
any good, preaching on
disputed points, not necessary
to Salvation, and I have
known many driven from
the church, by their religion
being preached against.

May you my dear James,
be guided by unerring
wisdom, and live many
years to adorn the doctrine
of God your Saviour is the
prayer of your sincere friend
