I spent Sunday at Denbigh
with George who I suppose
you know arrived on
Friday night. The Mare
carried me down much
better than she did up.
When I returned home
I found Mamma had
made up her mind that
she could not spare Henry
at from home at present, as she
cannot afford to keep a
man servant being
rather pushed as to pecurniary
matters. Heber, Gus, and
Jim being at school
all day she would never
[MS 3001]
be able to leave the
place. Henry also will
have more to do in the
Garden than he will
be able to get through
for some months. So you
will see she is not
unreasonable in refusing
your kind offer of forwarding
him in the world.
But perhaps before long
things may look brighter
than at present. Mamma
sends her love to you
and Mrs Hassall. And
Believe me to be
your affecte Cousin
