The Church of St. Peter's, Cook's River road, having become greatly
dilapidated, Meetings have been held by the Rev Holders and others
interested in the Church and Parish, to take into consideration the Reports
of three Architects who were employed to survey ahd report on the Building.

From the Reports and Estimates laid before a Meeting held on the
23rd ultima, it appeared that the dilapidations had arisen from the ravages of the white ant, the want of ventilation underneath the floor, and insufficient
drainage; and that if a sum were raised, then estimated not to exceed [pound]210,
along wth the means at the disposal of the Churchwardens, the Church
might be put into efficient state of repair, with every reasonable prospect
of its becoming, with care, a permanent structure.

Under the circumstances it was unanimously determined to proceed with
the Repairs of the Church, and to invite all parties connected with the
Parish to contribute their aid towards this object.

It was further detemined, that any Balance which night be required,
should be raised by the principal Landholders in the Parish, who have
agreed to lend their assistance by granting [Rev.?] of [pound]10 each, at 12
months date, which will enable the Churchwardens to raise the immediate means of repairing the Church; and towards the liquidation of which, the
Churchwardens are autorised to apply the Fees arising from the Burial
Ground, which are considerable.

We have therefore earnestly to request your aid towards the Repairs of
the Church f St. Peter's, a church which has been erected at so much expense
to the Inhabitants, and has been reckoned so great an atnament to the
district, if not to the colony.
