Obviously an unusual air of defiance
in both their countenances, which is not often
shown to me with impunity by any person. I began
to reflect there might be more in this than
appeared on the surface – and after a little
consideration it occurred to me, that there
might be a plan in agitation between Mr
Justice Field and that ever intriguing Priest
Marsden, to get up a Petition to the House of
Commons, signed by the Agricultural Society,
who are to have a grand treaty next week,
to take leave of their worthy President. In
considering many obscure hints that had fallen
from the two Cousin's I became confirmed
in the belief that I had guessed right –
If so – Oxley must be in the Plot.
