equitable deduction on account of Annuities, charged upon the general property of the Family of whatever Kind. The rental of all subsequent Leases at Pyrmont and at Parramatta (subject to a corresponding deduction), is also to be secured to me.

The proportion of Annuities chargeable on our respective Properties to be estimated according to the gross Receipts in each year, the charge however upon my Leasehold property never to succeed one third the gross annual amount of Receipts.

With respect to Camden it will be for you to make such disposition of your share of that Property, as you may deem fit.

I am wholly uninformed as to the Period to which the Annuities due to my dear Brother and Sisters have been paid, but having myself commenced by making a great sacrifice of Property, I am sure that they render my supposition of an

arrear of annuity being due to them, will execute an acquittance or Receipt thereof in full to December 1841 inclusive

To overburthen an Estate on account of Annuities and to leave an unpaid arrear is a species of of folly which may lead to inextricable confusion.

The Annuities should be calculatedaccording to a proportion, estimated each year by the Return of the Estate – a Proposition of which they who are most interested will see the Equity –

Captain Sim of the Palestine is on his voyage back to Sydney, and I avail myself of the opportunity to send you the last Quarterly Review. Captain Sim has a Packet from me containing a Letter to each of you, in addition to the Packet which I now send.

you would do well so to regulate your measures as to prevent the tide of Emi-gration being stopped in 1842 and 1843 on account of the deficiency of Funds. The Representations of the Governor and Council have naturally more effect with Government than the Representation of any private Persons here. It is impossible to say what course Government may take
