Dear Jas Macarthur

I have to thank you for
2 interesting letters of the 11th Aug A.P.
& 9th Feby & must commence by
expressing my gratitude for the kind sympathy
you express for our Sorrow at
Herman's death.

We have met with a similar
feeling every where. Having refused
a Monument by Govt. – our Neighbours
have put up a Meml. Window in
Hayes Church. In short nothing
has been omitted in this way which could
help to soothe our grief.

I cannot however say that all
this exhibition of friendly feeling
