very heavy indeed with thunder &
lightning. We were delayed two
days in Goulburn from the swollen
state of the river. Since then it has
done little but rain, and on Friday
night we had a slight fall of snow
the weather is still very unsettled
and cold. I found Mrs Martyr & all
the Children very well. little Emily's
leg was better in as much as she
is in no continual pain, but it will
be months before she is quite recovered.
The bone about two inches below
the knee has either been injured by
a blow, or else from the effects of cold
and is scaling off in very small portions
she is able to move about & the Dr
says she is to do as she likes & have
plenty of nourishment & a little wine.
