26th Decr. 1857
My dear Mr Macarthur
I need not assure you
that I was truly sorry to learn from
you that it was your intention to
retire for a short time from Public life
particularly as your health seems
to have, in some degree influenced
you in arriving at that conclusion
but I sincerely hope that the
rest and change will be so far
beneficial
P.S. On looking a second time at your note
I find it headed "Private". I shall therefore
not as I intended above consult any one on this
matter with the exception of Antill until I hear
from them
