matter sprang out of a casual inquiry,
in a note quite as private as my own, made
after the appointments referred to; and that
I said nothing whatever, affecting that of
Mr. Lutwyche, to justify the supposition
that I thought the Colony "ought to be
gratified" at that appointment.
