My dear Sir Alfred,

I have been unable until
to-day to lay my hands upon the note, in
which you expressed your opinion upon the
judicial appointments made by the present
Government.

I rarely read the reports in the
Sydney M. Herald of what is said by me
in the Assembly - for the blunders are so
numerous, that I cannot do so without an-
noyance. Whether therefore I was correctly
reported or not, on the occasion to which you
refer, I cannot say. The enclosed extract
from your note contains all that you said,
in reference to Mr. Lutwyche's appointment
as Judge; and I do not see any substantial
difference between your opinion, as there ex-
pressed,
