I have since I last wrote been in communication with Sir H. Barkly on the matter of your last letter. He agrees with me that the Home Govnt have no objection to a dozen Mints or any fear of giving them all universal circulation. The Bank of Engd is the only impediment. My opinion is that a Mint at Melbourne would do us good. But under any circumstances no one ministry or parliament can bind a subsequent one & some day or other they will have their Mint & I believe they have a just claim to one This proposal in my report is the only Solution I see
