Sydney 17th May 1827.

My dear John,

I have to acknowledge your two most affectionate letters by the Tiger, which after being perused with earnest attention by every member of the beloved circle at Parramatta are now forwarded to William at Camden.

How can we sufficiently express our feeling of the fraternal affection which dictated there? but why ask such a question. No such assurance can be by you required. Your letter to our dearest mother, she will not I think reply to [you] by this opportunity but probably by the Rosanna or the Mary Hope both which Vessels are advertised to sail a few days after the Australia you will receive a letter from her – Our dear Father is

event – which it is our intention to forward, with others which would be too bulky for the post, through the medium of the Company Despatch Box – To those therefore I refer you; and shall merely observe that poor charles' constitution was so completely shattered that death was for him a happy relief from the painful sufferings both of mind & body which he must in all probability have experienced had his days been prolonged
