2 Chester Street 26th Novr 1860
Monday 1 P.M:

My dear William,

I have written one sheet on
financing & household matters. This is for
more general subjects. Emily & Elizabeth have
informed you of our route from Middle to London
& the day is not the pleasantest for token
writing – so that I shall not recur to that subject
now. By the next mail possibly I may send
you some of my cerebrations on what we have
seen since we set out on our travels in England
& Scotland. While moving about & until fairly
settled in a place I cannot compose myself, so
as to write satisfactorily. This is a regular Novr
rainy day – cold withal & decidedly better for
London than the Country. I always thought London
the best Winter Quarters, & retain the opinion yet more
strongly. As yet the English climate has had no
prejudicial effect on any of us – but quite the
contrary. We have all grown stronger & stouter. The
spasms of the chest come much less frequently
& are very much slighter than they used to
