more exertion of any kind. I believe I may
say the same of both Emily & Elizabeth.
Edward who accompanied us to Church yesterday
& staid till nine at night – barring a run to his
rooms 134 Piccadilly, for an hour at luncheon
time is also surprisingly well. I may say the
same of Hannibal, Patk Leslie & Kate &
Emmeline Leslie – all of whom we saw yesterday
week at Rutland Gate. The latter looks rather
worn & harrassed. She is packing up to
remove from the house which she finds too much
for her, besides the painful recollections it
brings of her poor husband – so she is going
to sell it. In this she acts prudently & well.
I have dined once with Hamilton since we came
to Town & met there Mr [Ch?], now under secretary
for the Home Department, & Lord A. Churchill
Mrs Hamilton I am sorry to say is too unwell to
receive lady guests. They fear confining paralysis
an affliction to which I have known several
ladies in this Country subject, & which deprives
