14th March 1878

My dear Sir William

Your letter and the
box of plants to hand, for
the latter I have to thank
you very much, they arrived
in first rate condition, and
thanks to your liberality
I have made two or three
plants out of each of the
azaleas –

If not trespassing too
much on your kindness
I shall be glad to receive
as many more Azaleas
Camellias & Rhodendrons [Rhododendrons]
as you can spare –

I imported two cases of
the above plants & with the
exception of three or four
Camellias all were dead,
