Miles Franklin pocket diary, 1910

SAT. APR. 16, 1910 58° - 38° Went to office in morning. Took Portia Geach to Boston Oyster House for Lunch. Pouring wet. After dinner attended Ex. Board Meeting at 40 E. Randolph St.

SUNDAY 17 43° -36. Very cold & raw. Boiler room full of water - no heat on so I went to bed all day to escape the discomfort. Mrs Clay & Mrs Nourse came in during evening.

MONDAY 18 Went to office after lunch took Portia Geach to Dr Rhodes & to afternoon tea at Field's.

TUES. APR. 19, 1910 40 - 43° Had 1st lesson of 2nd term and Miss Henry came in during afternoon.

WEDNESDAY 20 Went to office at 1.30 Mr Hodge took Miss Geach & I to nickel shows. Portia & I had after-noon tea and Portia came home to dinner with me.

THURSDAY 21 56 - 44° Went to office early Portia & I went shopping for toques had lunch at Catering Club. Went to bed during afternoon.

FRI. APR. 22, 1910 Went for extra music lesson at one. Thence to office. Wet day. Went to bed during afternoon.

SATURDAY 23 31 - 26 Snowed. Stayed in all day. Very cold. Had a sleep during afternoon.

SUN 24 30 - 36 took Portia Geach to Lloyds. Miss H. came out for dinner. Saw Haag's studio. Went to the cottage. Very stormy - sleet & snow.

MON. APR. 25, 1910 Went to see Portia Geach off at 12th St. Stn. at 10.30. Re-turned via the office

TUESDAY 26 48 - 36° had 2nd lesson of series at 9.30 a.m. Pouring wet. Went to office in after-noon to look over proofs . Mrs Clay sang in my room during the evening.

WEDNESDAY 27 Stayed at Indiana House all day - depressed & not knowing what to do.

THURS. APR. 28,1910 76- 46° Walked down to office & did various errands after lunch

FRIDAY 29 82° Worked at Indiana House till 5p.m. Had a bath & went to Mrs Robins for supper.

SATURDAY 30 65 - 40° Stayed in the house all day. Went to Anniversary Ball at night. Deluged.
