Miles Franklin pocket diary, 1912

1912 February. Thurs. 1 Read "The Choir Invisible". Stayed in the house all day. Not feeling very well.

Fri. 2 Read Anna Karénina. Took a massage Stayed in all day After supper played cards at "Hearthstone".

Sat. 3 Finished Anna Karénina. Stroude & Grosbeck came.

1912. February Sun. 4. Returned to Chicago on Electric rd. 3 o'clock train. Met Mr. Teal on way.

Mon. 5. Went to Dr V. Hoesen at 9. Thence to office. Lunch at City Club on Life & L. Committee. Mr. M. Miss Peck, Miss H. Mrs. Stewart & me. Came home at 5.

Tues. 6 Went to 1437 W. Ohio for filing with Olive & Mary Nestor. Returned at 4 & had a sleep. After supper wrote on Net of Circumstance.

Wed. 7. Went to Mrs. Robins at 10 to work on filing. Came to office at 2.30. Got home at 4.30 & rested. After dinner worked a little on Net of Circumstance.

1912. February, Thurs. 8th Went to Mrs. Robins at 10 to work with Olive & Mary Nestor at filing. After lunch came to office and worked till 4.15. Wrote on Net of Circumstance.

9-2 below Fri. 9. Went to Chi. League office meeting at Men's City Club at 9.30. Lunched with Olive & Mrs. Robins at Merkle's. Came to Office. Worked with Mrs. Robins & filed my stuff. Home at 5.30. Did a little on "Net of C.".

21-3 Sat. 10. Went to Mrs. Robins at 10. Came home at 4.30. Had a sleep. Read Am. Maga. after dinner.

1912 February. Sun. 11. Rose at 10. Miss Ryan came for dinner & we went to monthly meeting of League after.

Mon.12. Went to Dr. Van Hoesen then on to office. L & L. lunch at city club. Miss Wyatt and others came to office after to write 10 hr. law publicity.

Tues. 13. Made up Mar. dummy. Helped on 10 hr. publicity all sorts of interruptions. Went to bed with bad cold after dinner. Lunch with Mrs. Pelham & Holly Club.

Wed. 14. Went to Saul at 8. Dummy all day - came home via Dr. Van Hoesen Very bad cold.

1912. February. Talked to Mrs. Post a little after lunch

Thurs. 15. Went to Saul at 10. Came to office at 4. Home via Dr. Van Hoesen

Fri. 16. Got to office at 9.30. Miss Peck came in & she Miss H & I lunched at Child's. Mrs Robins came in in afternoon. Zelie & I went to "Kindling" with the Pages. Afterwards Chop Suey & got on Train

Sat. 17. Springfield. Supreme Court to hear attack on 10 hr. Law. Ill. State Com. meeting in afternoon. Trade Union Supper in evening. On Train
