Thursday, Jan. 1, 1914 Rose at 11 and went to Dr & Mr Young for dinner. Dr Henry, Miss Henry & Dr [blank space] also present. Caught 5.14 train to Winnetka to spend night with Ethel. Went up to Lloyds for supper. Found a house full of sickness - colds, toothaches & ears troubling children. Left at nine & went to bed with Ethel. Talked till late. I didn't sleep.

Friday 2 Caught the 9.2 train into town. Snow soft & sloppy. Wm B. Lloyd called to say Demmy had arrived. I pottered in the office futilely, exhausted for lack of sleep. Dinner at Hearth with Editha. Walked home alone. Took [several words obscured] & went to bed at nine [several words obscured] [an]d murky.

[Sat]urday 3 [several words obscured] [?]d. Came home at 2 [several words obscured] [do?]zed for 15 min or so & then got up & worked which was more satisfactory. Lunch with Miss Phelps at Hearth. Walked home. Washed head & pottered. Took Dr F's drugs hoping for sleep.

[the four obscured lines above are covered by a National Women's Trade Union Third Biennial meets in Boston, June 1911 sticker]
